Hanover Pediatric Dentistry is an exciting addition to the dental community of the South Shore. This state-of-the-art, beautiful new facility occupies an exceptional location on Route 53 in Hanover.

What makes the practice unique and extraordinary though, are skills and dedication of Dr. Tara Groff DMD, Board Certified Pediatric Dentist, with a solid background from Tufts Dental School, the University of Michigan Pediatric Master’s Program and the United States Air Force. She provides comprehensive care for infants, children and adolescents including those with special health care needs.

Hanover Pediatric Dentistry uses all levels of sedation including general anesthesia in office with anesthesiologist Dr. Patrick McCarty. Dr. Groff, along with Dr. Martin Kaplan also uses lasers to treat tongue and lip ties for infants that have nursing difficulties as well as older children with speech issues.

The practice opened on April 17.2018, yet Lorraine was involved long before the doors opened working with the architects, contractors, equipment & service vendors, the landlord, marketing organizations and many others to make it all happen.

Lorraine’s career started as a Dental Hygienist, but for the past 20+ years she has specialized in the administrative and marketing aspects of pediatric dental practices in the area.

Lorraine’s favorite part of her job is working with kids. What makes a pediatric practice unique is the ability to concentrate on the care of children. Sure, there can be challenging moments, but Lorraine feels that nothing compares to the fun and rewards of working with kids. Her least favorite part of the job is dealing with insurance, the insurance companies can be very difficult to work with.

Lorraine says their biggest challenges came from the fact that Hanover Pediatric Dentistry was started from scratch. Day one: zero patients. It has been a building process. The good news is the more they grow, the faster they grow. They have been very warmly welcomed and supported by the area’s general dentists as well as pediatricians and that has been a tremendous help!

Dentistry is a people driven business: doctors, assistants, hygienists, vendor representatives, patients and parents all have personalities. These are not always positive and they all seem to come together at the practice administrator’s desk. Lorraine’s advice to a new practice manager just starting out would be, they need patience, a positive attitude and thick skin to balance all the sometimes-competing demands.
