Beth put everything so well, I just went with her own interview responses…

I work for South Shore Periodontics.  We are a Perio office in Hingham.  I started working here in July of 2014, so I have been here 4 ½ years.   When I interviewed, the doctors stressed that the office is like a family.  I had never worked in such a small environment, and I definitely was apprehensive.  I have to say, it was truly the best move I could have made.   I am blessed to be part of such a wonderful practice.

I have worked in the dental field for 18 years.  Prior to working for South Shore Perio,  I worked for Harvard Vanguard Dental, which was a large specialty office in Braintree.

What’s my favorite part of the job – I love connecting with new patients every day!   I have been so fortunate to have met so many amazing people while doing this job.

My Least favorite part is dealing with Insurance companies.  I feel like I could call the same insurance company 3 times and all times hang up with 3 different answer!!

My biggest challenge is trying to make each patient feel important and focusing on all of their questions so they leave our office feeling confident in our practice   When I am working with a patient, I try to give them 100% of my focus.  It can be hard with the phone ringing, or office staff asking you questions.

My “Words of Wisdom” to new practice administrators –  As bad as it seems, It will always get better!  There are days when it can be overwhelming.  Everybody wants something different from you, and It seems that no matter how hard you try, you cannot please anyone.  Fortunately, those days are few and far between, but they do happen.

Pam always asks “What one thing would people be surprised about you?”    There are two things I am going to list –  The first thing I will say is that I absolutely hate the dentist! Every time I go, even if it’s just a cleaning,  my pulse races, palms get sweaty, and I panic.  Every time I walk out of my appointment, I think I can’t believe I get so anxious beforehand, and It was for nothing.  (Though, I do the same thing at my next appointment J)

The second thing I am going to list is that I used to be fun!   I say this because, I somehow became really serious after having kids.   One day I was having a conversation with my teenage boys and I told them I used to be fun.  They were in shock.  It made me realize, I need to stop taking life so seriously J

Dental Managers Society – I love being part of such a knowledgeable group.  When I leave I feel like all of my concerns and frustrations are validated.  It’s nice to be with people who really understand what you are dealing with.  The amount of new information I leave with each month is incredible

Thanks, Beth!  We couldn’t have said it better ourselves!
