Catching up…

Recently, Lexi and I took a ride to Gloucester to visit Angela Donovan and her practice Harbor Cove Dental. Many will remember Angela as the Founder of New England Dental Office Managers, the predecessor of Dental Managers Society. I can see why Angela isn’t able to attend our meetings; the two hour PLUS drive during rush hour would put a damper on anyone’s desires!
Even though the days was wet and drizzling, you could still see the charm of this beautiful waterfront community! You can see why they chose this location to start the practice five years ago. And they take advantage of the waterfront location by decorating the office with whaling and nautical décor. Stephanie Bakland is responsible for the fun and relaxing style and it is beautiful!.

Two years ago, when Angela made the difficult decision to “retire” from NEDOM, it was to give the growing practice the attention it needed. Since then, she has helped grow the practice to our 2,500 active patients and they added a new dentist, Dr. Nobiru Suzuki this summer.
A family practice, Dr Suzuki and Angela have spent a lot of time and effort to get Dr. Suzuki’s name out in the community. They attend every local event and pass out bags with the practice name on it, as well as other goodies. One month, they had 81 new patient appointments which Angela later admitted was too many for one month. She said it was too stressful and they now keep it down to a more reasonable number.
We chatted about how much she loves working for Dr. Bakland and that its so much fun to help a practice succeed! It was very evident that this is a team that enjoys each other’s company and that they work very well together to provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere!
Although she misses all the friends that she made over her years at NEDOM, she knows that she made the right decision. She continues to learn and grow in her expertise to benefit her practice and those around her. She asked us to say “hello!” to everyone and hopes that everyone is doing well.
We wish continued success to Angela and hope that, on some beautiful first Friday of the month, that she decides to take a long ride and come visit all her friends here in Pembroke!
