Marijane O’Neil from Glaxo Smith Kline was a visitor and brought bagels and cream cheese to add to our breakfast buffet.

Sponsor Nancy Kagan of Summit Dental Partners led the Open Forum discussions.  Here are some of the topics:

  • A member asked about Practiceworks and any shared tips or tricks that other members might have.  That led to a discussion of software and the suggestion that we survey members about their software and set up user groups to share information. Once we get more surveys back, we will start this process.
  • Pam Demski Hart, our OSHA, HIPAA and BORID expert has spoken to the group in a while.  A member suggested that we ask Pam to present at a separate meeting or meetings that would allow doctors and other office team members to attend.  Pam would offer 2 CEs for attending.  A list of suggested topics and a request for best times was given to the group.  It was decided that the fee for these seminars would be only $49 and that a light supper would be provided, if given at a lunch or dinner time.
  • There was helpful discussion about filling last minute holes in the schedule which led to Nancy saying that the holes weren’t as much of an issue as was why there were holes in the first place.  A patent that doesn’t understand the “need” for the appointment is more apt to cancel or break.
  • A few marketing ideas were discussed.
  • Reminder software was discussed and Weave was brought up.  Coincidentally, Weave is one of the sponsors of NEPAM and members who were attending will bring back more information.

Respectfully submitted
