When Nancy Kagan mentioned that she wanted to provide an update on Delta Dental’s status, Adriana Amorim from Delta Dental offered to attend and be a resource for any of the group’s questions.
After Adriana spent some time answering questions, she said that practices should start looking for the Total Care Cards that will be in use soon.
Nancy offered advice about how to handle the conversations and questions about “Why your office isn’t in the network” if that is the case in your practice.
Since this was Open Forum, the questions from the group to the group included:
- Time for hygiene appointments which varied from 45 -60 minutes.
- New Patients get 90 minutes – some with the doctor, some with hygiene
- Perio patients got 90 minutes in general
“Downtime policies” for hygienists were also discussed. One office’s policy is “If you don’t have a patient, someone in the office needs your help.” No office allowed a hygienist to use the time for themselves.
Of course, there were a lot of private conversations before and after the formal meeting. There’s a wealth of knowledge in the room and everyone is happy to share.
