Google review/Google testimonial. What’s the diff?

A 5-star Google review can be just the five stars and no words. That helps you on Google Maps. It may not sway too many potential customers to dig deeper and look at your website. You could even make the case that a 5-star Google reviews that says little more than “They did a great job for me” will move somebody to act.

So what good is a 5-star Google review if there’s not much of an actual review?

Plenty.

Google gives you the opportunity to reply to all reviews, good, great or bad. This provides you a great opportunity to talk about the work you did for a customer or client.

For example, a reviewer leaves a five-star review on the Google My Business page of a business coach. The review says such great things as “Highly recommend” and “A+++ all the way around!” And while that sentiment is extremely gratifying, it doesn’t provide much insight for the reader who may hire the coach for a specific part of their business.

So, what can you do? It’s not like you can edit the review, right?

Right, but you do have the option to reply.

A simple reply could be, “It was our pleasure on helping you grow your business by utilizing such marketing strategies as [name a few].”

Or, “We also found it rewarding, working with you so you could grow your business for eventual sale. Enjoy the next phase of your life.”

Granted, the circumstances will be different, but you get the idea. By including details in your response you can create a 5-star testimonial out of a 5-star Google review and gain even further traction with prospects—especially if your responses use keywords and keyword phrases that you want to be found for.
