Copilot For Work

Copilot is Microsoft’s artificial intelligence program and although the Pro versions of Copilot run $20 and $30/month, the free version is very robust and can handle lots of tasks with ease. As with any new program, there is a learning curve. Here’s what you need to know to access and utilize this AI program:

An image carousel gives you some prompts and ideas to start you on your journey. We asked it to name 10 things that it does well for business:

1. Write Emails Faster: Imagine having a smart helper named Copilot who can make writing emails quicker and better. Whether it’s a professional message or a reply to someone’s question, Copilot gives you suggestions to improve your communication.
~ We used Copilot to re-write an email to be better understood, and it made it more friendly and understandable.

2. Create Reports and Presentations: Copilot is like your creative assistant. It helps put together reports and presentations. Think of it as your secret weapon for making your school projects or business documents look awesome!
~ The free version has a 2,000 word limit so I had to use ChatGPT to re-write an article.

3. Predict the Future (Sort Of): Copilot can answer questions about what might happen. Wondering about trends or how customers might behave? Copilot can give you some smart guesses based on what it knows.

4. Schedule Meetings Like a Pro: Copilot can help you organize meetings. It’s like having a personal calendar wizard. Just tell it when you’re free, and it’ll find the best time for everyone.

5. Chat Smarter with Your Team: Copilot makes team chats easier. Need to share info or files? Copilot’s got your back. It’s like having a super-smart chat buddy.

6. Find Info on the Web: Copilot is your web detective. It can search the internet and summarize articles. So, if you’re curious about something, ask Copilot!

7. Create Cool Images: Copilot’s Designer tool lets you make logos and artwork. Even the free version gives you 15 daily chances to be a mini-artist!

8. Keep Your Secrets Safe: Copilot respects your privacy. It doesn’t remember what you say—it’s like a trustworthy friend who won’t spill the beans.
~ We strongly caution that you do not share any sensitive information with Copilot!

9. Works Everywhere: Copilot hangs out on Windows, Android, iOS, and the web. It’s like a helpful ghost that follows you around (in a good way!).
~ In the Windows 11 version, not Windows 10.

10. Be Curious: Copilot is always learning. So, go ahead—try new things and see what surprises it has in store!

Copilot doesn’t have to just be for work; create a FREE personal Microsoft account* and you can generate the below benefits and more!

1. Content Creation: Imagine having a smart helper named Copilot who can write poems, songs, stories, and reports for you. If you’re feeling stuck or want to be more creative, Copilot can give you ideas and even create content!
~ Read the poem Copilot wrote about itself here.

2. Picture Detective: Copilot can look at pictures you upload—like photos or artwork—and tell you interesting things about them. It’s like having a detective for images!
~ It blurs facial recognition for security; I found it to be only to be pretty good at describing the images I showed It.

3. Logo Maker: Copilot’s Designer tool can make logos and drawings based on what you describe. So, if you need a simple logo, Copilot can whip one up.
~ This one was a FAIL! I asked Copilot to create a logo, and it kept misspelling the name.

4. Web Surfing Buddy: When you’re browsing the internet using Microsoft Edge, Copilot can be your friendly guide. It shares cool facts about the web pages you visit. You’ll find the Copilot symbol at the end of Edge’s search bar,

5. Learning and Growing: Copilot keeps getting better! It learns new skills and adapts to different tasks. Think of it like a student who keeps improving.
~ As of March 12th, GPT-4 Turbo is now available in the free version.

6. Microsoft 365 Teammate: Copilot works well with Microsoft 365 (like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). If you subscribe to Copilot Pro, it’s like having an AI teammate to help you write, edit, and organize your work.
~ This is a paid version

7. Windows 11 Sidekick: Copilot is right there in Windows 11. You can ask it to do things like turning on dark mode, changing your wallpaper, or opening File Explorer—all by typing simple commands.

8. Daily Helper: Copilot assists with everyday tasks. Whether you need to be more productive, get creative, or understand information better, Copilot has your back.
~ I asked it to give me a recipe using a few food items I had on hand, and it did a great job!

9. Easy Access: You can quickly use Copilot’s tools by pressing a few keys on your keyboard. And when you don’t need help, just set it aside.
~ Copilot couldn’t help me when I asked which keys to press on my keyboard.

10. Curiosity Time: Both Copilot and ChatGPT are always learning. So, go ahead—explore and see what cool things Microsoft’s chatbot can do!
~ I asked Copilot where to take the grandchildren, ages 7 and 9, for a Friday afternoon, less than 50 miles from Plymouth, MA and it gave me all the outdoor parks in Plymouth and the descriptions included Splash pads, which are not open until Memorial Day. Even when refined to say i“ndoors,“ it didn’t provide much help.
