ECRI, an independent source for testing of medical devices, has issued a warning about KN95s 60-70% of the KN95s they tested have less than 90% filtration

If you must wear a KN95 here are some steps to help ensure your safety

1.  Check what the actual filtration is on your mask from a trusted source (ex: NIOSH)

2.  Do not trust manufacturer’s certification, many are falsified

3.  If it has sufficient filtration, fit testing is crucial for a KN95

If a mask has ear-loop straps, you probably cannot get a good seal

Don’t forget if you have respirators in your practice, you must have:

1.  Fit tests with a written log

2.  Medical Clearance for everyone wearing a respirator

3.  Written Respiratory Protection Program

4.  All employees must understand what PPE is needed for all situations
