Even if your State’s Dental Regulations don’t require it, do it anyway to protect your patients and your practice.

Why?

  • Without water treatment (and testing of the effectiveness of such treatment), biofilm can build up inside dental unit waterlines. Disease-causing microorganisms found in untreated water can severely harm your patients. (See 2022 CDC Health Advisory).

How?

  • Consult with your dental unit manufacturer for appropriate methods and equipment to maintain the quality of dental water.
  • Follow the recommendations for monitoring water quality provided by the manufacturer of the unit or waterline treatment product.
  • Generally, water quality testing should be performed monthly on each dental unit following the start of new protocols. If the results are acceptable two months in a row, water quality testing can move to quarterly. If you would like more guidance on dental unit waterline treatment and testing, please call us at 781-471-0915.
