Technology Advisor II at Patterson Dental Boston

Dental team members are seeking partners that can guide and educate them on products and services that can help the practice grow and bring smiles to the patients they treat. There are a number of product vendors and suppliers that teams can choose from.  Each offers practices their unique perspectives on the dental industry. As dentistry embraces technology, the need for teams to understand their practice management software and technology purchases, increases. As a hygienist, Ann-Marie DePalma, CDA, RDH, MEd, FADIA, FAADH, a Technology Advisor for Patterson Dental, brings her clinical background and expertise to assist team members in understanding Patterson’s software, including Eaglesoft, intra-oral imaging, and FUSE. Whether training an office on-site, performing a software checkup or participating in the Dental Manager’s Society, Ann-Marie offers her unique perspective and knowledge to inform and educate teams about the importance of understanding the “why” behind their technology.
Ann-Marie came into her current position after practicing clinical hygiene in general and periodontal practices for a number of years. She also has been involved in dental hygiene and dental assisting educational programs and worked for a national dental consulting company. Ann-Marie is also a published author with a number of dental/dental hygiene publications and a national continuing education speaker on a number of topics for dental teams. All of these experiences and positions have given her a perspective on how practices can enhance the patients’ experiences using technology.

A typical day in Ann-Marie’s life is anything but typical. As a Technology Advisor, Ann-Marie’s responsibilities include training team members on Eaglesoft whether the practice has used Eaglesoft for years or are in the midst of a conversion from one or no software to Eaglesoft. Assisting team members who are well-versed in computers or are apprehensive about change, requires her to understand various learning styles and personalities. Training times can vary from a half a day of training to several days working with a practice and team. Beyond doing the Eaglesoft training, Ann-Marie can provide Eaglesoft offices with a free checkup that evaluates how the practice is currently using the software and assist them in taking the technology to the next level. Providing training on Patterson’s intra-oral imaging options with proper positioning and care of the technology is also one of her responsibilities. Connecting practices to Patterson’s eServices portfolio, REVOLVE, including electronic claims processing and patient engagement products are another part of the Technology Advisor’s job description. Whether a practice is in Massachusetts, New Hampshire or Rhode Island, Ann-Marie is available to assist in helping the practice use the software and technology in a way that is best for the practice. Each practice offers a unique situation and having a variety of options for training enables the team to customize its needs.  Patterson also offers OSHA and HIPAA training that any Patterson office can avail themselves of which Ann-Marie can also provide.
